Once a bottle is open, oxygen starts to change it. Most wines are good for a day or two with the cork back in the fridge. The right preserver stretches that to a week, or with Coravin, lets you pour a glass without ever opening the bottle.
At a glance
| Pick | Product | In one line | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best overall | Coravin Timeless Three Plus | Pour a glass without pulling the cork | Price → |
| Best mid-range | Coravin Pivot Plus | Coravin protection for already-open bottles | Price → |
| Best budget | Vacu Vin Original Wine Saver | The classic pump, a few dollars | Price → |
| Best value argon | Private Preserve Wine Preservation Spray | Inert gas spray, works on any bottle | Price → |
| Best for bubbles | Coravin Sparkling | Keeps Champagne fizzy for days | Price → |
There are three approaches. A vacuum pump removes some air. Argon gas forms a protective layer over the wine. Coravin pours through a needle in the cork and replaces the wine with argon, so the bottle never really opens.
